The UCHealth Medical Group at Memorial Central Hospital inColorado Springs, Colorado, is seeking a Trauma and Acute Care Surgeon (TACS)to join our group of 18 dedicated TACS surgeons.
- Idealcandidate is fellowship trained in surgical critical care (SCC) with BC/BE inboth general surgery and SCC
- Memorial Hospital Central is a busy ACS Verified/State Designated levelI trauma center in Colorado Springs, the only level I trauma center in southernColorado
- 12 hrday/night shift model for both TACS and SCC
- 3in-house TACS surgeons during daytime - each with dedicated APP, one night TACSsurgeon with resident and APP assistance
- SCCservice with dedicated attending and APP coverage daytime, in-house SCCattending coverage at night as well - serves also as TACS in-house back-up
Memorial Hospital Central is a state designated and ACSverified level I trauma center. It is an approximately 400 bed facility inColorado Springs with one of the busiest emergency departments in the state -100k visits annually. As the only ACSVerified/State Designated level I facility in southern Colorado, this facilityserves as the primary referral center for trauma and emergency general surgerypatients in southern Colorado, western Kansas and northern New Mexico. The TACS group serves all trauma, emergencygeneral surgery, and surgical critical care needs for this facility. Our trauma volume annually includes 4500entered into the registry with 75 highest level trauma activations on averageeach month.
Our trauma program has robust support staff with manyopportunities to participate in clinical research, community outreach andeducational programs. We are a dedicated ATLS teaching facility and all staffparticipate as instructors. Our facility is a well-staffed rotation site forUniversity of Colorado general surgery residents with many opportunities foreducation both in and out of the operating room. We are also a core surgical rotation site forUniversity of Colorado medical students and osteopathic students from RockyVista University. University of ColoradoSOM clinical academic appointment is available. The TACS group is also dedicated to supporting military readiness, withregular rotations of Air Force and Army general surgeons and special forcesmedics on service.
