Job Duties
The Wilkes-Barre VA Medical Center (WBVAMC) and Geisinger Wyoming Valley (GWV) Medical Center are seeking applications for a board-certified/board-eligible Gastroenterologist to support continued growth within both organizations.
The successful candidate will receive a joint appointment at the WBVAMC and GWV, as well as the opportunity for faculty appointment at Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine. Working part-time (65%) at the Wilkes-Barre VAMC and part-time (35%) at the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center allows access to a large patient database for research through both organizations and eligibility for VA research funding. There is also ample opportunity for teaching medical students, residents, and Gastroenterology fellows.
The ideal candidate would be able to leverage the uniqueness of this opportunity to fulfill interests in clinical research and teaching with dedicated time allotted.
Position Details
WBVAMC Gastroenterologists are responsible for the evaluation of inpatient and outpatient GI consults, performing endoscopic procedures consistent with their scope of practice, and other patient care duties as necessary. In addition to our continuing commitment to quality Veteran care, the Wilkes-Barre VAMC is also a teaching hospital with medical students and residents that rotate through our GI department. If interested in research, we have fully accredited research programs and research grants can be submitted through VHA for approval.
