The role you’ll contribute:
OurLegacy is designated by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) as the only organ procurement organization (OPO) in east central Florida and is accredited by the American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB) as a tissue recovery agency. OurLegacy's scope of operations extends to each of the following hospitals within the AdventHealth's Hospital system: Altamonte, Apopka, Celebration, Daytona Beach, Deland, East Orlando, Fish Memorial, Kissimmee, New Smyrna Beach, Orlando, Palm Coast, Waterman and Winter Park. Additionally, CMS has designated OurLegacy to provide organ and tissue donation services to all non-AdventHealth acute care and critical access hospitals and free-standing emergency rooms in the following counties: Brevard, Flagler, Indian River, Lake, Okeechobee, Orange, Osceola, Seminole, Sumter and Volusia. The Clinical Donor Program Specialist (C-DPS) works with Critical Care, Palliative Care and ED Physicians, Physician Assistants (PAs), and Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners (ARNPs) to increase acceptance for organ and tissue donation; provide education and training to enhance the donation process; share resources, data, and proven practices; create invested donation advocates; and successfully partner with physicians, hospital leadership, and physician groups to optimize lifesaving outcomes. The scope of this work entails ensuring hospital compliance with federal regulations for organ and tissue donation among all AdventHealth and non-AdventHealth hospitals. Success in this role is measured by outcome data (donation rate, organs transplanted), key process measures (management goals tracked in case progression, collaborative planning for end-of-life discussion), and the active engagement of physician partners. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

- Provide timely, effective and ongoing customer relationship management to defined physician partners and their respective representatives ensuring respectful, solution-oriented communication and service.
- Identify forums and coordinate learning programs for Physicians, PAs and ARNPs to ensure understanding for the donation process and the roles of OurLegacy and hospital staff.
- Lead in sharing Donor Management Goals and engaging physician support to optimize lifesaving opportunities.
- Educate and promote acceptance of Donor Management Orders and Catastrophic Brain Injury Guidelines.
- Regularly engage in onsite support of physician(s) to provide real-time donation case education and consultation.
- Conduct case follow up and debriefs with physicians.
- Foster collaboration, communication, and collegiality with OurLegacy colleagues for the purpose of fully supporting the donation process.
- Actively participate in performance improvement management.
- Create and maintain physician contact list and profiles.
- Maintain documentation of all meetings, education programs, and follow up in iTransplant
- Meets regularly with physicians to establish and maintain effective two-way communication with regards to organ and tissue donation process
- Contributes to the establishment of donation best practice within the OurLegacy service area
- Works collaboratively with physician leadership to implement changes based on outcome data
- Supports the practice of organ and tissue donation through presentations, publications, and involvement in hospital committees, and professional organizations
- Coordinates with multiple disciplines both internally and externally to solve complex process issues
- Serves as an expert resource on the organ and tissue donation process
- Represents Ourlegacy in a professional manner with both internal and external audiences, ensuring professional appearance and communication
