Seeking Full-Time General Dermatologists 

Department of Dermatology at the University of Oklahoma 

The Department of Dermatology at the University of Oklahoma is seeking full-time general dermatologists.  This is an exciting opportunity to join an established department which is expanding to fulfill its educational and clinical goals. This position provides the chosen candidate an opportunity to develop a fulfilling practice tailored to both the physician’s clinical and academic interests and the department’s clinical needs while participating in a vibrant dermatology residency program.  

The successful candidate must be either be board certified or board eligible. Candidates may be well-established in dermatology or in the process of completing a dermatology residency or fellowship training.  A developed or developing interest in complex medical dermatology or skin of color dermatology is encouraged, as well as interests in various areas of dermatology including but not limited to psoriasis, autoimmune disease, and cutaneous lymphoma.  A portion of the practice could involve cosmetic dermatology or general dermatologic surgery procedures.   

The Department of Dermatology faculty currently consists of five full-time dermatologists, several volunteer faculty, and three advanced practice providers. Our Department has a fully-accredited ACGME training program with an approved complement of 10 residents.  Supported by the Dean of the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine, the Chair of Dermatology and the faculty are dedicated to providing outstanding dermatologic care integrating the roles of faculty, residents, medical students, and advanced practice providers in an academic environment.  The Department of Dermatology is committed to the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion for the advancement of excellence in healthcare, medical education, and health equity for all individuals in the state of Oklahoma and beyond.  A friendly, welcoming dermatologic community in Oklahoma and Oklahoma City adds additional enjoyment to the practice.  

Clinical care, educational functions, and administrative offices are currently located in a free-standing building on the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center campus in Oklahoma City.  Clinical services include medical and surgical dermatology, dermatopathology, phototherapy, cosmetic dermatology, laser therapy, and Mohs surgery.  Clinical and consultative services are also provided at the Oklahoma City Veterans Administration Medical Center.  Consultative services are also provided at OU Health hospitals.  All are within walking distance of the Department.  

In late 2022, all dermatology clinics will move to a state-of-the art, 40,000 sq. ft., hospital-based facility located on the first floor of the Nicholson Tower on the OU Health Sciences campus. This space will accommodate more providers, increase patient access, and deliver better coordination of care. Resident and administrative offices will also be located  within Nicholson tower on an upper level.

Appointment rank and salary for all positions are commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Compensation is competitive and a comprehensive benefits package is available, including the opportunity to participate in a defined benefit retirement plan. Liberal paid vacation and support for personal continuing medical education are also provided.

Oklahoma City is an unexpected pleasure to those not familiar. It is Oklahoma’s state capital with a strong business community.
