The VA Loma Linda Healthcare System (VALLHCS) in Medicine Service is recruiting for a Full-Time, Permanent, Physician (Pulmonary). Loma Linda is located one hour to the east of Los Angeles and thirty minutes west of Palm Springs. A prosperous city of 21,000, the city has some of the highest median incomes and highest average home prices in San Bernardino County, excellent school district and network. The Physician (Pulmonary) reports directly to the Chief of Medicine Service. Provide pulmonary consultative services and follow-up for inpatients. Supervise residents and fellows to ensure safe, quality patient care including bedside procedures and proper hand off at the end of shifts, as necessary. Inpatient and outpatient progress notes and specific documentation for resident and fellow supervision is required. Quality of care should meet professional standards at all times. Performs the following functions: Evaluate, diagnose, consult, and order appropriate diagnostic studies and treatments for Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine patients. Provide comprehensive care for patients who have illnesses within the scope of IM/Pulmonary Critical Care/Sleep Medicine. Participate in Pulmonary and other Critical Care related committees or work groups, and pulmonary conferences, as assigned. Rotations in the Medical Intensive Care unit with night and weekend call staffed with Medical students, Internal Medicine and Emergency Medicine Residents and Pulmonary / Critical Care Fellows.
