The incumbent will serve as the Primary Care Supervisor (Physician) located at the Deltona Community Based Outpatient Clinic for the Orlando VA Healthcare System assigned to the Ambulatory Care Service. The PC Supervisor (Deltona CBOC) will provide leadership, direction, and day-to-day supervision of his/her assigned Primary Care Providers. The PC Supervisor in conjunction with the CBOC Chief Medical Officer, Ambulatory Care Services, will be responsible for planning, organizing, developing, implementing, controlling, and refining a comprehensive patient management, clinical support, and administrative program. This is a supervisory/leadership position that will report directly to the CMO. The PC Supervisor is responsible for implementing and leading Primary Care/PACT model transformation at the assigned sites which includes participation in facility committees. Emphasis will be placed on meeting facility, VISN & VHA strategic goals to include improved access to care, improved efficiency, customer service excellence, self-care & self-management for Veterans, chronic illness management, prevention, & fostering Veteran health & well-being through use of Personal Health Planning. This position will require sound clinical skills, knowledge, & experience in Primary Care operations, flexibility & the ability to role-model & lead change. The transformation within Primary Care/PACT is intended to improve Veteran satisfaction, quality of care, safety, & eventually improved health outcomes, & reduced healthcare costs. The position will require a dynamic, forward-thinking leader who will be required to collaborate with the Primary Care Section Chiefs and Primary Care Supervisors within Orlando VA Healthcare System. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Clinical: Assures that each patient presenting for care at the clinic receives quality medical care within the limits and resources of the clinic, obtaining referral to another VA facility or VA Community Care if resources are not available. Directs and supervises the clinical activities of the Primary care providers in the clinic. Promotes virtual care modalities for care delivery and ensures incorporation of such modalities into daily operations of primary care providers. Works cooperatively with the Orlando VA Medical Center and other outpatient clinics of Orlando VA Healthcare System. Coordinates care and transfer of care to their facilities when needed. Responsible for coordination of interim care at the designated site of care which includes care of traveling veterans and patients assigned to PACT teams at other sites within OVAHCS. Responsible for Women Health care at the assigned site of care. Administrative: Preparation of annual proficiency reports. OPPE/FPPE completion and review, per policy. PACT/EPRP/SAIL/other data review and management. Leave and timecard management and administration. Clinic profile management. Collaboration with the patient advocates to address and resolve inquiries/complaints. Preparation of controlled correspondence for Congressional/VISN/VACO inquiries. Recruitment/retention of Primary Care providers. Disciplinary action, as required. Collaboration with HAS, Nursing and other PACT leadership in Primary Care to effect clinical operations. Oversight of PACT implementation to include any initiatives or directives from VACO, VISN or Medical Center leadership. Be proficient in and promote alternate modalities of care that include virtual care, in collaboration with HAS/Nursing leadership and other PACT disciplines. Responsible for continuous improvement projects within Primary Care. Responsible for Primary Care staff engagement and development. Functioning within his/her assigned scope of Primary Care at the Lake Nona VA Medical Center. May have additional duties as assigned, and based on organizational need at all times. Education: Uses results of monitoring and evaluation activities in the clinic and clinic improvement activities, as well as in planning the educational programs for the medical staff. Encourages and supports professional growth of staff by approval of authorized absence for conferences and workshops. Responsible for orientation and training updates of all supervised employees. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 08:00 AM - 04:30 PM (The Supervisor must be willing to work weekends and irregular work hours and may need to provide clinical services off tour and will be required to do so upon receiving critical clinical messages.
