WittKieffer has been retained by Driscoll Health System (DHS) to identify the inaugural President for their new hospital, Driscoll Children's Hospital Rio Grande Valley (DCH Rio Grande Valley), located in Edinburg, TX, scheduled to open in Fall 2022. This is an exciting opportunity for a strategic, collaborative and dynamic leader to lead the construction and opening of a new hospital, create a strategy and vision in partnership with the system senior leadership team, and increase market share across a region in need of high quality pediatric care.
Headquartered in Corpus Christi, TX, DHS has been a leader in pediatric care since its inception in 1953. DHS is anchored by Driscoll Children's Hospital which is a 191-bed pediatric tertiary care center with more than 30 medical and surgical specialties. DHS also includes a multi-specialty medical group, urgent care centers, an after-hours facility, a health plan as well as numerous collaborative relationships with regional providers. The health system serves a 31 county area with plans of growth, outlined in its strategic plan approved by the Board of Directors. DCH Rio Grande Valley is DHS's latest addition and will serve the Rio Grande Valley community which has a population of one million across a 100 mile region. The eight-story, 176,000 sq. ft. facility is in initial stages of construction and will be comprised of approximately 103 beds and 450 employees.
Reporting directly to the System President and Chief Executive Officer, Eric Hamon, the President of DCH Rio Grande Valley will be responsible for leading the successful construction and launch of DHS's newest hospital. The President will work alongside DHS leadership to develop the vision and strategy for the hospital and ensure efficient and standardized operations are being implemented within the facility. The President will recruit top talent to ensure the successful opening and staffing of the hospital. The President will develop strong partnerships with providers in the region to build trust and ensure alignment with the hospital and system goals. S/he will assess the market dynamics to identify key areas for the hospital and system to provide value and grow market share.
The ideal candidate will be an innovative, metrics driven leader with deep knowledge of healthcare operations and the strategic foresight to anticipate growth opportunities. S/he will bring forward an engaging style to build trusting relationships with all key stakeholders, including physicians. Candidates should have a track record of success achieving strong financial, operational and quality performance and a passion for pediatric healthcare.
