The Cincinnati, OH VA Medical Center is actively seeking a well-qualified Hospitalist with strong leadership and interpersonal skills to serve as a Staff Hospitalist. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Holidays/Weekends/Off-Tours as Needed by the Service. This will be discussed during the interview. Duties include, but not limited to: Admit, evaluate, diagnose, treat, perform history and physical exams, and provide consultation to patients with common and complex illnesses, diseases and functional disorders of the circulatory, respiratory, endocrine, metabolic, musculoskeletal, hematopoietic, gastroenteric, and genitourinary systems. Assess, stabilize, and determine disposition of patients with emergent conditions consistent with medical staff policy regarding emergency and consultative call services. Provides care that is compassionate, appropriate, and effective for the promotion of health, prevention of illness, treatment of disease, and supportive at the end of life. Follows evidence-based recommendations DVT prophylaxis Performs careful medication reconciliation Engages with veterans' social supports including and collaborates with inter professional team to optimize their care and well-being. Communicates and collaborates with care team (nursing, scheduling, primary care, inpatient, multidisciplinary team members) Provides guidance and supervision for the medical students and residents (interns, residents, and/or fellows) assigned to Medicine Service/subspecialty services and clinics according to the standards outlined in Center Policy Memorandum, 1-4, "Supervision of Postgraduate Residents," when assigned to do so by the Chief, Medicine Service. Adheres to all information security and privacy measures set by VHA and the Medical Center.
