The staff Physician-Urologist is responsible for providing the most effective delivery of Urological care within the Dallas VANTHCS in compliance with applicable VA and VHA Directives, American Urological Association standards, and The Joint Commission accreditation standards. The urologist provides a variety of services including pre-operative patient exam and assessment and performs all aspects of Adult Urological Surgery including treatment of lesions, biopsies, urological laser procedures, enucleation, stent insertion, and prostate surgery. Provides urology-related direct patient care in all functional areas of the OR, ICU, ward, and clinic settings as needed, to include on-call coverage. Provides critical care related direct care. The incumbent may also be involved in program planning, objectives, policies, and standards essential to delivery of quality Urological care. Duties include, but are not limited to: Providing quality inpatient/outpatient care in accordance with approved clinical privileges. Maintaining a high degree of excellence in clinical outcomes while providing efficient patient care throughout. Maintaining professional competency, courtesy and flexibility and providing the necessary services of this specialty. Attending to assigned clinics, taking an active role in the evaluation of all assigned patients, making decisions for treatment/care, and completing timely documentation in the patient electronic records. Collaborative patient management, working closely with other departments and sections within the Health Care System to coordinate care as needed. Attending all meetings required by the Organization and the Surgery Service in particular. Proficient in General Urology with the ability to independently perform a wide variety of Urological procedures as needed. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Financial Disclosure Report: Not required Note: This is a Bargaining Unit Position. Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting and no restrictive covenants.
