The Iowa City Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care System (VA), is seeking a Neurologist in the Medicine Service Line, Specialty Medicine/Neurology. Position will be 5/8ths VA and 3/8ths appointment with the University of Iowa. *The listed salary range is based on full-time status and will be prorated for 5/8 VA. Duties include: Provide comprehensive care to include diagnosis, treatment and education of patients with Neurologic disorders. Evaluate, triage, and prioritize consult requests to ensure timely care for patients suspected of having disorders of the nervous system. Coordinate medical management and care with Primary Care providers and other medical personnel in a multi-disciplinary health care delivery system. Perform, supervise and interpret results of procedures related to Neurologic disorders such as lumbar punctures, EMGs, and EEGs (including intraoperative EEG monitoring). Lead the Code Stroke team in accordance with the facility stroke protocol. Perform administrative tasks as assigned, such as peer reviews, Compensation and Pension evaluations, and Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluations (OPPE). Provide on call services as needed for after hours and weekend support. Provide clinical supervision and support to any Physician Assistants and/or Nurse Practitioners working in the Neurology clinic. Physician will be required to attend staff meetings, serves on committees, teams, workgroups, and peer reviews as requested. Completes CME, VA Training, HIPAA, Security training and other mandatory trainings. Work Schedule: 25 hours per week schedule between the hours of 8:00am-4:30pm. Monday-Friday.
