Erie VA Medical Center is seeking a full time permanent Physician (Director of Primary Care). Recruitment/Relocation Incentive: May be authorized for a highly qualified applicant. The Medical Director of Primary Care has the responsibility of providing direct supervision of clinical providers assigned while also providing direct patient care. The proportion of administrative and clinical time is 80% admin / 20% clinical. May perform additional duties (temporary or permanent) as a float provider (face-to-face or via telehealth) if/when Veteran needs arise. The Medical Director of Primary Care reports directly to the Chief of Patient Care Services and Ambulatory Care. Typical duties include but are not limited to: Performing history and physicals Ordering diagnostic and therapeutic tests/studies Initiating consults/referrals Prescribing medications/supplies in accordance with VA policy, VA formulary. Demonstrate leadership, experience and formulate creative approaches to management of complex patient care. Participate in strategic and operation planning Establish workload targets Review staffing / workload utilization and monitor performance measures Demonstrate a high level of flexibility and commitment to meet the needs of a complex evolving patient care system Advocate for quality patient care Work Schedule: Typical tour of duty may be Monday - Friday 7:30 am - 4:00 pm or 8:00 am - 4:30 pm; however, night and weekend tours may be expected if Veteran needs arise.
