The James H. Quillen VA Medical Center is seeking a well-qualified, preferably board certified Pathologist to serve our Veteran patients at our main campus in Mountain Home (Johnson City), Tennessee. Duties will be listed below. Duties and Responsibilities of the Anatomic and Clinical Pathologist: The AP/CP pathologist is ultimately responsible for diagnostic interpretation of specimens processed within the laboratory. The AP/CP pathologist will provide residents and/or trainees information on specimen processing and evaluation. Review of gross specimens Processing and interpretation of intraoperative frozen sections. Provide intraoperative and intra-procedural consultation as requested. Interpretation/sign-out of surgical pathology specimens within CAP guidelines for turnaround time and synoptic cancer reporting. Ordering and interpretation of appropriate immunohistochemical stains and special stains. Interpretation/sign-out of non-gynecological cytology specimens. Perform diagnostic GYN pap smear interpretations using Bethesda Guidelines. Review hematology fluids and issue diagnostic interpretation. Cytopathology training/experience: Provide consultation on fine needle aspiration interpretation, including rapid read during the fine needle procedures, immediate adequacy interpretation for CT guided FNA biopsies and EBUS. Participation in Quality Assurance measures including 10% retrospective review of all anatomic pathology cases, VHA mandated surgical pathology review guidelines, and inter-laboratory comparison programs as designated by Chief, Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. Participation in multi-disciplinary conferences such as Cancer Conference, Tumor Board, Infection Control, Laboratory Utilization Committee, and Tissue/Transfusion Committee. Participate in a 24 hour on-call rotation service. Participate in minimum required continuing medical education (CME) to maintain licensure/privileges. Responsible for timely completion of VA assigned TMS educational modules. Responsible for diagnostic expertise and sign-out in any area for which sub-specialty fellowship training has been completed. Responsible for technical director over satellite clinical laboratory departments as designated by Chief of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. Work Schedule: Primarily Monday - Friday, 7:45 AM - 4:30 PM. Participation in the service's on-call rotation is required. Financial Disclosure Report: Not required
