This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Learn more The Southern Arizona VA Health Care System (SAVAHCS) is recruiting for full-time neurosurgeons to join our neurosurgery program. The SAVAHCS is the principal teaching affiliate with the University of Arizona Colleges of Medicine, Nursing, and Pharmacy. Medical students, residents, and fellows rotate at our facility. Elective neurosurgery is offered for patients from Arizona and New Mexico. Therefore, the selected candidate must also be eligible for an appointment with the University of Arizona. The SAVAHCS is a tertiary care facility providing a full range of clinical services including cardiac surgery and neurosurgery. It has been a flagship quality provider within the VA and was a 2012 winner of the prestigious Robert W. Carey Performance Excellence Award. The selected candidate will be responsible for providing inpatient and outpatient neurosurgical care to adult patients and will coordinate referrals to appropriate community providers and/or facilities. Complex spine and neurovascular expertise preferred. The physician will ensure the provision of care to all neurosurgical patients directly or by consultation. The incumbent participates fully in: quality improvement, quality assurance, and utilization review activities and other medical staff activities as assigned within the Medical Center. The physician will fully comply with appropriate staff education and training. The successful candidate must possess sufficient clinical knowledge and experience to provide competent clinical care and must also have good interpersonal skills to deal harmoniously with staff, patients and family members. The incumbent must be proficient in the use of computerized systems related to patient care. Must equitably share call coverage.
