Community Memorial Hospital is a 25 bed Critical Access, non-for- profit hospital in a rural setting in upstate New York that serves a population of 45,000. Currently the only 5 Star hospital in New York State for patient satisfaction. With 360 employees within the Hospital, Urgent Care and 5 hospital owned Family Health Centers, our mission is to provide quality health care close to home. Community Memorial Hospital is currently involved in a $19 million dollar capital improvement project, building for the future.
The President/CEO, reporting to the Board of Directors of Community Memorial Hospital, leads and directs all aspects of Community Memorial Hospital to assure its success within the healthcare community. The CEO must be a highly visible leader with a commitment to the organization’s values, including the delivery and continued improvement of high-quality patient care.
The responsibilities of the CEO include but not limited to:
Strategic: Works closely with the Board of Directors and staff to create, implement, monitor and maintain key strategic initiatives supporting the hospital’s continued growth, effectiveness and performance in a transparent and collaborative manor. Responsible for effective execution of capital projects.
Administrative: Assumes ultimate responsibility for the total operations of Community Memorial Hospital, providing leadership, direction and administration of all hospital operations and ensuring quality patient care. Analyzes performance improvement strategies.
Financial: Monitors the fiscal activities of the hospital and the financial status of the organization on a regular basis. Leads the development of a financial strategy that develops new services that generate profitable revenue and supports the mission of Community Memorial Hospital
Regulatory: Knowledge of Critical Access Hospital regulations and other Critical Access Hospital (CAH) requirement and follows local, state and federal regulatory requirements.
Community: Develops and maintains a positive relationship as the primary representative between the hospital and the community. Assists with fund raising efforts of the organization.
Engagement: Is visible, accessible and approachable throughout the organization. Promotes teamwork, a sense of pride and motivates. Must communicate transparently and effectively with all hospital employees, physician’s patients and families and Board of Directors. Engages physicians and all hospital employees to promote retention.
Master’s degree in healthcare administration, business or related field.
Critical Access Hospital experience preferred.
At least 10 years of progressive hospital leadership, experience, including 5 years of related management and leadership experience as the Chief Executive Offices, Chief Operating Officer of Vice President Level in a Critical Access or Acute Care hospital.
Experience in a not-for- profit hospital setting.
Minimum of 5 years or more of successful leadership in healthcare including building relationships with hospital employees and the surrounding communities and the ability to grow hospital revenues.
