In collaboration with the referring physician, you will consult on symptom management to meet patient needs, including ordering diagnostic tests and prescribing medications and treatments. In this role, you will act as a medical resource for the nurse practitioners, physician assistants and others on our interdisciplinary hospice teams, guiding their work and assuring compliance with the highest standards of medical care. You’ll also prepare and maintain accurate patient records, charts and documents, as well as educating facility staff, co-workers and the community on all aspects of VITAS’ hospice care services.

You became a physician to improve patients’ lives and make a difference, but the realities of medical practice today often make that goal very difficult. As a VITAS physician, you will enrich the quality of your patients’ lives and experience what it means to contribute to your community every day. Explore a rewarding career where we support you so that you can put your patients and their families first. Hospice work isn’t easy, but we do it extraordinarily well.
