Prepares the patient for and performs the day-to-day transports, admissions of patients, and assist in safe patient handling throughout the Health System, providing care as indicated to these patients during the transport as directed under general supervision, per established policies and procedures and within the mission and values of Holy Spirit Health System. Report directly to the Inpatient Nursing Operations Manager.
COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:
Maintains current competence in monitor removal and replacement, oxygen application and capnography training.
Maintains current certification in Basic Life Support (CPR) at all times during employment
Ability to read, write, understand simple sentences in order to maintain logs and follow basic patient care.
Knowledge of principles of growth and development over the life span and the ability to assess patient needs relative to his/her specific age and physical size/condition for safe transport/lift purposes.
Ability and willingness to work effectively as a team player as well as an individual contributor with personal accountability.
Ability to work under stress due to consistent high demand for transport/lift resources
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High School diploma or GED required.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
1. Personal protective equipment for standard precautions use (i.e. gown, gloves, mask,and goggles)
2. Duckbill mask for airborne pathogens
3. Hearing and vision corrected to normal range
4. Physical effort required in lifting/transporting of patients via wheelchairs/stretchers and or beds.
5. Normal resident environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature, variation or other extreme conditions.
6. Full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
7. No lifting limitations. Must possess ability to easily and frequently lift 100 pounds.
8. Submission to drug screening or alcohol testing according to Substance Abuse Policy.
9. Must be able to tolerate long period of time standing and walking
10. Must be able to reach above head, bend, push, pull, stoop and kneel
