JOB TITLE: Inventory Care Support Assistant LOCATION: Geisinger Community Medical Center DEPARTMENT: Patient Transportation WORK SCHEDULE: Days WORK TYPE: Full Time
JOB SUMMARY: Performs many non-clinical tasks required to deliver care, including but not limited to, Inventory Control (parring, put-away), Linen Inventory Management and Distribution, Patient Care Equipment Cleaning and Distribution, and Patient Transport. Coordinates functions within base department or an assigned clinical area. Delivers high level of customer service to co-workers, patients and the clinical staff. Works in a self-directed manner to prioritize job functions.
Directly reports to the Care Support Services Coordinator and/or Logistics Supervisor.
Responsible for ensuring the very best patient/family experience by optimizing all customer interactions. Fosters a positive work environment through mutual support and cooperation and adheres to GHS and unit specific Service Standards. Performs duties to support the goals and objectives of the Geisinger System in its efforts to provide quality patient care and patient satisfaction.

Demonstrates the ability to compose, send, and read emails, understands email functionality and conventions related to replying.
Demonstrates a reasonable comfort level with technology and associated devices.
Demonstrates and uses proper body mechanics when lifting and transferring items or patients.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: High School diploma or equivalent required. Minimum one-year inventory, clerical or patient transport experience preferred.
Minimum six months on the job to learn to identify medical and surgical supplies and equipment and become familiar with all duties required.
Successful completion of role orientation and competencies. Proficiency in areas of Inventory Control (parring, put-away), Linen Inventory Management and Distribution, Patient Care Equipment Cleaning and Distribution, and Patient Transport required within 12 months of hire. Continuing in-services and education programs required.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Work is typically performed in a clinical environment.
Requires the ability to lift up to 70lbs. Lifting to waist level and above is required. Requires pushing and pulling of carts with weights ranging from 100lbs to 500lbs combined. Requires transferring patients from bed to wheelchair or litter. Requires lifting of equipment up to 20 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Frequent stooping, reaching, bending, handling, talking, depth perception, and acuity in the daily performance of duties
