Michigan State University, the nation's original land-grant university, provides a unique environment and Wealth of resources including four health colleges (Osteopathic Medicine, Human Medicine, Veterinary Medicine and Nursing). The MSU College of Osteopathic Medicine teaches its first- and second-year students at three sites to facilitate access and provide a variety of experiences. Two-thirds of these students are on the Michigan State University campus in East Lansing, and one-third are distributed between the Macomb University Center in Clinton Township and the Detroit Medical Center downtown. To provide high-quality preand postdoctoral osteopathic medical education, MSUCOM collaborates with 33 hospitals and around 6 Federally Qualified Health Centers throughout our Statewide Campus System (SCS). Of these SCS institutions, 23 are identified as base hospitals where our third- and fourth-year students complete clinical rotations.
The Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine seeks candidates with strong leadership skills and enthusiasm for osteopathic medical education to serve as the Associate Dean for Diversity and Campus Inclusion. This individual will work closely with fellow senior leaders across the college and its affiliated institutions to advance MSUCOM's diversity initiatives and mission in the Southeast Michigan region by providing influence over areas of recruitment, retention, climate, and curriculum while developing cohesive and visible community partnerships and engaging in local outreach efforts. The Associate Dean will engage with tenure system faculty searches, hiring, reappointment, promotion and tenure policy, and provide faculty mentoring in areas of equity and inclusion and will work with the Dean to oversight elections for college and university committees, and advise the College Reappointment, Promotion and Tenure (RPT) process.
The Associate Dean will have executive-level leadership experience, with background in mentoring faculty, staff and students, advancing institutional diversity efforts, and promoting an atmosphere of collegiality. This individual will serve as a member of the dean's advisory board and the college's executive staff and will advise the college on all matters pertaining to improving and expanding the continuum of osteopathic medical education in Southeast Michigan as well as diversity and inclusion efforts of the college.
The Associate Dean will report directly to the Dean and will provide oversight to the Administrative Directors at the Detroit Medical Center and Macomb University Center sites. The Associate Dean will also work closely with the college's Diversity Committee in order to provide operational strategies to best deploy diversity-related goals throughout the MSUCOM community.
Required Degree • Doctorate
Minimum Requirements • Required D.O or Doctorate in relevant field required and a minimum of five years of executive leadership experience.
